Is music part of our DNA? Why do catchy songs seem to elicit finger tapping, head bobbing and body movements, regardless of who is listening? It’s possible that there is some science behind the human desire for certain types of music, especially when combined with exercise.

Psychologists have found that people are drawn to music with a rhythmic frequency of 2 Hertz. This is 120 beats per second or two beats every minute. An analysis of more than 74,000 songs released between 1960 and 1989 revealed that 120 beats per minutes was the most common rhythm pulse.

If you want to increase the fun factor of your workout, consider the following songs. These songs’ energetic beats, pulse-raising rhythms and pulsating rhythms may make you want to push yourself harder – while having more fun!

Katy Perry – Roar: Although it may not be a fast-paced, hard-driving music, it still sends a message of self-confidence and confidence. It also delivers a heart-pumping refrain, which mixes a thrashing bass with Perry’s primal cry.

Kesha is not for everyone. This music will boost your energy and keep you going through your workout. This music can help you if your energy is lacking and you’re a little behind the finish line.
On High of The World: Think about Dragons. These guys are geniuses at blurring the line between rock band, rap act and religious peddlers. The single “On High of The World”, has a fast-paced beat with a catchy refrain. The verses have been deliberately paced so that you can calm down, but the refrain will get you going.

Holy Grail by Jay Z is perfect to listen to while you warm up or begin a run. It starts slowly, builds up, builds up, builds and builds until it gets to a moderate level of intensity. Jay Z and Justin Timberlake ask you to “get working” in this near-perfect workout song.

If you are looking for a different kind of rock, don’t forget these Brits. Although they are a relatively new band in the States, their popularity has been growing across the pond. “Pompeii”, with its cool beat, high-energy sound and upbeat tone can quickly get you moving.
These six songs will keep you motivated to get healthy and treat your body. They are upbeat, energetic, and heart-pumping. Remember that you can also get inspired by the latest Jazzercise playlist!
