The apps can be used to keep you accountable. They are similar to the Jazzercise attendance games that students play at school. Install a health application on your smart phone and it will monitor everything from your heart rate to your weight loss, even your glucose levels. PC Journal’s top health apps include free apps that count energy, offer teaching, monitor and schedule exercise, and track and schedule workouts. Some of the apps on this list also provide community, as well as friendly competition and encouragement.

  1. Jazzercise
The Jazzercise App is now available for free on both iOS and Android. The Jazzercise App allows clients to:
Search for courses by favourite instructors or class formats, view current promotions, and check out facility hours and contact information.
  2. Fitocracy
Fitocracy combines gaming and learning to create a platform for social competition. Watch actions, earn points and move up a level. Earn “props”, which are like “likes” in Facebook, from the community, which includes health coaches and dietitians.
  3. GAIN Health
If you’re looking for a workout buddy, GAIN Health is an iPhone app that will guide you through a full exercise. Private trainers have created customizable interactive exercise packs that include interval training and yoga. The app can be downloaded for free and includes a “balanced routine”, high definition photos and optional audio cues. Extra train packs start at $2.99.
  4. Lose It!
Lose It! is a fitness app that counts calories and logs your training. You can instantly access healthy food choices, and track your health levels. Lose It! will help you achieve your goals for weight loss, exercise, macronutrient intake, blood pressure, sleep and more. Lose It! You can log your meal exercise using a database of hundreds of meals from restaurants, supermarkets, and brands.
  5. MyFitnessPal
According to PC Journal, MyFitnessPal is “one of the best all-in one calorie counters and exercise trackers for iPhone”. It has an unlimited database of foods and meals, recipes in imperial and metric systems, a simple to use interface, and a barcode scan for packaged food.

Coming Soon…Jazzercise Fitness Tracker
The Jazzercise team is working with MyFitnessPal on a Jazzercise Health App that can track number of courses, calories burned, weight loss and diet information in a multi-function place. This app will soon become your best health companion! Stay tuned for details…
